Port of Napier (NZ) “Lightman” Lighting Control

Previously, the Container Port’s lights had been turned on & off manually, both morning and evening, requiring someone to physically travel around the port facility. Some lights were widely scattered and the operation took a considerable amount of time. By using Salcom transceivers, encoders and decoders linked to a computer loaded with graphical interface software developed by Salcom, it was possible to control the lights remotely. The graphical interface software shows a plan view of the port and by positioning the cursor over the symbol for each light, a click of the computer mouse can control each light independently.
